“The Ducat Prize, founded in 1858, is the oldest art award in Finland. It is presented by the Art Society annually to a young Finnish artist under 35 in recognition of special merit.”
Justification of the jury: Tuomo Rainio advances the traditions of art by using modern technologies originally. It is not the image itself in the core of the video- and photographic works, but how the image is existing: lyrical emergence is merged with the aesthetics of vanishing.
